A Journey to the Major Ports of Athens

Athens is a place where the sea meets the land in an exquisite blend. This is a place of history and rich culture, along with splendid contemporary living. Millions of travelers visit Athens on an annual basis. From the capital of Greece, there are endless destinations you can choose to explore. Having Athens as your starting point, a new adventure starts for you at the city’s major ports. Whether you select Piraeus or Rafina port, the journey begins and your heart starts beating faster. Are you ready?

Piraeus is the biggest and most prominent port of Greece. Most of the ships set out from Piraeus to many different destinations, including Cyclades and Dodecanese. Nearby, you will find a wide variety of cafés and restaurants, picturesque taverns and bars. Strolling across the port of Piraeus with the lights shimmering on the surface of the water seems idyllic, right? This is what every evening looks like at Piraeus! Rafina is slightly further away from the city center than Piraeus port. It is equally picturesque, though. There are various ships departing from Rafina, both for short and long distanced islands of Greece.

For accessing the ports, there are buses and other public means of transport you can use. Piraeus port is easily accessible by tram and metro, whereas there are taxis able to cover your transportation needs. The cost of taxis is quite affordable and the service provided is of high quality. As for boat tickets, you can either purchase them online or get them at the cashiers located at the port. Just make sure that there is availability at the ship, especially during summertime.

Embark at one of the ships from the ports of Piraeus and Rafina and commence your biggest adventure ever – till the next one!
